La Puente Woman Charged with Murder for Allegedly Running Over Boyfriend

POMONA, CA - A murder charge was filed Tuesday against a La Puente woman accused of running over her boyfriend with her car outside a motel after an argument last weekend.
Sharon Kay Hood, 52, is scheduled to be arraigned June 8 at the Pomona courthouse in connection with the death of Randolph Morales, 51, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Authorities said the two -- who had been dating for six years -- started arguing Sunday inside a motel room in the 500 block of North Azusa Avenue in La Puente.

Hood abruptly left the room, and when Morales followed her outside, she ran him over with her car, prosecutors allege. He died at the scene.
Hood was arrested the same day and has remained behind bars since then.

If convicted of the murder charge, which includes the allegation of use of a deadly and dangerous weapon -- an automobile -- during the commission of the crime, Hood could face up to 26 years to life in state prison.
