Man Killed in Fatal Pomona, Orange Freeway Crash in Diamond Bar

A fatal accident Friday morning left the HOV lanes shut down in a SIG alert, CHP says.

DIAMOND BAR, CA — A Friday morning traffic collision in Diamond Bar, between a heavy-duty Ford truck and a smaller vehicle, led to a man's death on the Pomona Freeway to the Orange Freeway.

"A man was killed Friday in a traffic collision between a heavy-duty Ford truck and a small car on the transition road from the Pomona (60) Freeway to the Orange (57) Freeway in Diamond Bar," CHP Patrol Officer Juan Galvan said.

The crash was reported at just after 5:45 a.m. in a carpool lane on the transition from the westbound Pomona Freeway to the southbound Orange Freeway, said Galvan.

The one-mile transition from the Pomona Freeway to the Orange Freeway includes HOV lanes, which were shut down in a SigAlert after the crash, Galvan said. One vehicle was against the center divider. The lanes were reopened at just before 9 a.m.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett, who added one vehicle was overturned and one person was taken to a hospital after the crash.

No names have been released, according to official reports.
