Marshall Middle School will debut a custom-designed, three-element mural depicting the Marshall Mustang mascot, an effort aimed at instilling a stronger sense of pride in the school as it celebrates its 60th anniversary.

The school will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the cafeteria’s new look, which was funded through donations from local businesses, Marshall families and student fundraisers.

The festive event will include a musical performance by the Ganesha High School Band and a student-created video highlighting Marshall’s history.

The design of the mural is threefold: one wall will say “Marshall Pride” in the school’s signature colors, black, maroon and gray; the back wall will feature Mustangs running; and the third wall will have horseshoes. The front of the cafeteria will say, “Marshall Home of the Mustangs.” Boss Graphics designed the mural. Named after the nation’s longest-serving Supreme Court Chief Justice, John Marshall Middle School opened its doors in 1955 as a grade seven-to-nine junior high. It now serves grades six to eight.
