Musical Celebration of Spanish Jewish Culture March 29
The event, which is being co-presented by Temple Beth Israel in Pomona, will take place at the University of La Verne.

A musical celebration of 1,300 years of Spanish Jewish culture will be held Thursday, March 29 at the University of La Verne.
Presented by Temple Beth Israel of Pomona, the Jewish Federation of the Greater San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys, the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony, and the University of La Verne, the “La Convivencia” concert will also commemorate the 1492 expulsion of Jews from Spain.
According to a press release from Temple Beth Israel, “La Convivencia” is the name given to the era in Spanish history from 711 to 1492, when Jews, Muslims, and Catholics lived in peace together. “La Convivencia” means “coexistence.”

The event will feature Vanessa Paloma, a senior Fulbright scholar and performer; members of the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony, led by Dr. Noreen Green; Kol HaEmek (Voice of the Valley) Chorale, conducted by Cantor Judy Sofer; the University of La Verne choir; classical guitarist Jordan Charnofsky; Cantor Paul Buch; and Cantor Aviva Rosenbloom.
