Update: Harley Rider Killed in Crash Identified
The accident impacted the Friday morning commute.

Update:
A 49 year-old motorcyclist from Hacienda Heights was killed this morning in a crash on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Diamond Bar, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to the CHP, Gilbert Avila, riding a 2004 Harley Davidson eastbound on the 60 Freeway at a speed estimated to be greater than 70 miles an hour, passed up the entrance to the transition road to the Orange (57) Freeway, according CHP Officer J. Ortiz.

Avila then tried to get onto the transition road by exiting the carpool lane and crossing all four lanes of the eastbound 60 Freeway, according to Ortiz. Avila’s bike then veered onto the right shoulder, where it struck a raised asphalt curb that separates the eastbound 60 from the northbound transition road to the 57 Freeway.
The bike then overturned and Avila was ejected, sustaining blunt force trauma to the head and chest, according to Ortiz. Avila was pronounced dead at the scene by county fire paramedics.

The crash took place about 5:25 a.m. near the Diamond Bar Boulevard offramp, according to the CHP. The accident temporarily shut down the Number 3 and 4 lanes and a SigAlert was declared by the CHP.
The freeway was cleared at 9:24 a.m., according to the CHP.

A motorcyclist was killed in an accident on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Diamond Bar early today.
The accident occurred on the freeway’s eastbound lanes near the Diamond Bar Boulevard exit around 5:25 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim died at the scene, according to the incident log.
