Air Perfection bought by Atlas Copco
New awnings with the name Quincy Compressors on them caught my eye, as I knew the business next to the post office was known as Air Perfection, compressed air specialists. Three local men in 1989, one who still serves as Vice President of the company, Steve Strah, founded this company that now has 40 employees.

The change is that Air Perfection—that renovated its present space in the commercial building next to our Dixon Post Office--is no longer a privately owned company. Quincy Compressors purchased it several years ago. Just recently, Atlas Copco purchased Quincy.
Atlas Copco is a world leader in compressors, generators, construction and mining equipment, industrial tools, assembly systems and equipment rental.

“We are still Air Perfection and still about quality service,” said Gail Moon from their Accounts Payable Department who explained their new outdoor awnings. This company is impressive. It has clients as large as United Air Lines, Chevron, and Shell Oil Corporation but also serves small individual equipment renters.
Payless Shoe Source Closes
After five years in the Walmart Shopping Center, the Payless Shoe Source is closing its doors. They opened in spring of 2006 according to city records and spent this last month reducing their inventory until finally selling off equipment or incorporating it into their Vacaville store.
They employed about a half dozen local residents. No call was returned from the parent company in New York about why the closure took place but many different closures have occurred even in established chains or franchises as sales declined in the tough economy.
There are two Vacaville Payless Shoe Source stores in Vacaville, however. They are at 2060 Harbison Drive next to Target and the other is at 900 Merchant Street.
Red Box DVD Now Outside CVS
The big red box just popped up outside the CVS store next to Goodwill store in Dixon. Just in time with all the students out of school for winter break and the cold weather to keep most indoors.
Since Blockbuster went out in the Safeway Shopping Plaza, it is certain there has been an upswing of Netflix subscribers in the Dixon area. This box makes the third in Dixon. The other two are located outdoor of the 7-Eleven at 1075 North First Street and then there is one inside the Walmart at 235 East Dorset Drive. That makes good business sense for Dixonites.
