Congrats to Dixon's Detective Glenn Cooper!

Detective Glenn Cooper has been selected as Dixon Police Department’s 2014 Officer of the Year.

The past year started with Detective Cooper working as a patrol officer. He consistently carried a heavy workload and exhibited a positive attitude.

His duties included being a Field Training Officer (F.T.O.) in which he trained the Department’s new officers. In his role as F.T.O. he is calm, thorough, and patient in teaching new trainees.

With two decades of law enforcement experience, Officer Cooper is able to provide trainees a strong foundation of fundamentals and a working knowledge to begin their career. As such, he is instrumental in shaping the future of the Dixon Police Department.

During the past year, the City of Dixon experienced a steep increase in residential burglaries. Because of Officer Cooper’s skill set, tenacity, and knowledge of the local community he was assigned to investigate and stop the rash of burglaries.

During this assignment he made multiple narcotic arrests and recovered stolen property, impacting the recent increase in criminal activity.

Due to his hard work, Officer Cooper was recently appointed to Detective.

He is self motivated, has a strong work ethic, is able to find solutions to difficult problems, and is an excellent role model for new officers. Officer Cooper is a very humble person who does not seek recognition for all his good work. Because of that this award is extra special to his co-workers at the Dixon Police Department who hold him in high esteem.
