According to Lisette Estrella-Henderson, Associate Superintendent of Student Programs and Educational Services, achieving this accreditation is a milestone for the Golden Hills Community School and is the culminating achievement earned through successfully submitting an extensive application analyzing and describing the programs, objectives and instructional methods, and completing a comprehensive site visit by a WASC team. “This is a proud moment in our campus’ history, and we could not have accomplished this without the leadership of our Director of Alternative Education, Rick Vaccaro, and the commitment and steadfast work and dedication of the entire Golden Hills Community School staff on behalf of the students whom we serve.”

The rigorous WASC accreditation process includes an in-depth evaluation of Golden Hills’ governance structure and operational standards, curriculum, leadership and staff, academic results, and support structures. Accreditation by a respected independent body like WASC ensures that a school is providing students a quality education and addressing their needs to help them succeed.
