Name: Spencer Currey, 15

School: Dixon High School

Accomplishment: Over the weekend, Spencer won Second Place in a simulated rowing competition against 56 freshmen and novice competitors.

Key to Awesomeness: For Spencer, key to awesomeness has everything to do with dedication and perseverance. He goes to practice with the River City Rowing Club in Sacramento 6 days a week. His rigid schedule includes waking up early for school, coming home afterward to get ready for a two hour practice, then coming home and preparing for the next day. Don’t worry about his grades, though, he takes time out during breaks at school to complete his homework. Still, there is another major component that keeps Spencer going.

“My motivation is my Mom,” said Spencer. “She is a great motivation and definitely the most motivation I have in my life. She is there at every race supporting me.”
