Dixon Unified School District Weekly Update On The Reopening Of Schools For April 16

Today’s update shifts our focus significantly from the 2020-21 school year to next year, 2021-22.

Funding Support for Reopening

• Like all districts in California, Dixon Unified will be receiving a combination of state and local funding, in addition to what we have already received, to assist in the full reopening of schools and addressing the impact of COVID-19 on our students, families, and staff.
• Most of the funding has strict restrictions on what the money can be used for and by when it must be spent.
• Our allocations and the deadline for expenditures are included in the table below:

COVID-19 Funding

The names of the various funding sources will not mean very much to most people but represent the different pots of money that we will receive. All of them are directly intended to support reopening, with some limited to learning and mental health supports, while others include the option to spend on safety and facilities needs, for example.

Input and Planning for 2021-22

We are actively involved in the planning process for the use of the funds shown above and are taking several specific steps to provide all of the members of our school community the opportunity to give us input:

• Surveys: Beginning next week, the District will be conducting surveys to collect information on the importance of a wide variety of actions and services we might offer in response to the pandemic. There will be a survey for all of our families/parents/guardians to complete. Our students at John Knight Middle School, Maine Prairie High School, and Dixon High School will be asked to provide their perspectives on what they would benefit from. Finally, staff members will complete a survey to contribute their thoughts on how we should move forward. Look for these to be distributed no later than Tuesday, April 20th.

• Town Hall Meetings: As we have several times throughout the pandemic, we will hold meetings for our families to receive some information about the planning for next year and have the chance to ask questions and share ideas with us. All of the meetings will be held via Zoom through the District’s usual link, which is provided below for your convenience.

Governing Board Meetings:

• Our governing Board meetings will include agenda items related to the 2021-22 return to school. All of our meetings begin at 6:00 P.M. and can be accessed through the same link as above.

• Meeting dates are April 29th in a meeting specific to these issues, May 6th, and May 20th.

Reminders on our Current Situation

• Families can choose to have their children move from Distance Learning to in-person at any time, or vice-versa. We want to have students in the program that best meets their needs right now, so please exercise your option if you want to do so.
• Students who are not feeling well should stay home from school! We have had great cooperation from our families on this issue so far and ask that you continue to keep children who are feeling ill at home.
• Meals are available for pickup for any children in the District according to this schedule:

• We have had zero confirmed cases of COVID transmission through contacts at any of our school sites or other facilities! Let’s all keep focused on staying safe and healthy as we enjoy this reopening of our schools.

Financiamiento de COVID-19
