Illegally Possessed Colt Revolver Found In Traffic Stop: Police

A loaded .38 Special was in the handbag of a suspect, who was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant, officials said.

FAIRFIELD, CA – A Fairfield woman was arrested Thursday night following a record check during a traffic stop that revealed she had an outstanding warrant and a subsequent search that allegedly turned up a loaded Colt .38 Special revolver, according to police.

A 1995 Honda Civic was pulled over for a traffic violation by officers at about 10:30 p.m. on the 300 block of East Pacific Avenue in Fairfield, and two inside, the driver and a passenger had no identification, the Fairfield Police Department said.

The passenger, later identified as 22-year-old Michelle Robinson, told police "she may have a warrant," the department said, adding that a records check confirmed an outstanding misdemeanor DUI warrant.

As officers searched her and her purse, which was near her feet on the floorboard, the firearm was found in her handbag, police said.

"The revolver had no record of sale, and Robinson refused to answer any questions regarding it," the agency said.
