Man Arrested Near Fairfield Park For Allegedly Carrying Shotgun

Police said the 26 year old from Vallejo is a convicted felon currently out of prison on Post Release Community Supervision.

A 26-year-old Vallejo resident and convicted felon was arrested Tuesday in Fairfield for allegedly carrying a concealed shotgun, police said.

Shortly before 8 a.m., a Fairfield Police Department officer was on patrol near the 1400 block of Utah Street when he spotted the subject walk out of a nearby neighborhood park and attempt to hide behind a parked vehicle, police said.

The man, later identified as Michael Heath, who is a convicted felon currently out of prison on Post Release Community Supervision, became uncooperative when officers attempted to contact him and a short struggle ensued during the arrest, police said.

During a search, officers located a short-barreled shotgun concealed on Heath, according to the department.

Heath has numerous prior arrests including convictions for possession of stolen property and shooting into an inhabited dwelling, police said.

He was booked into Solano County Jail on charges of 29800(a) PC - Felon in possession of a firearm, 33210 PC - Possession of a short-barreled shotgun, 25400(a)(2) PC - Possession of a concealed firearm, 30305(a)(1) PC- Felon in possession of ammunition, 148(a)(1) PC- Resisting arrest, and 3455 PC- Violation of PRCS, police said.
