Man Found Dead In Irrigation Canal Identified

It appears the 32-year-old became trapped in a grate and drowned, officials said. [Breaking]

SOLANO COUNTY, CA – Vacaville police have identified a man found dead in an irrigation canal last Thursday as 32-year-old Dustin James Asay.

Asay, a Fairfield resident, was reported missing Thursday morning.

His body was found in a Solano Irrigation District canal near Vaca Valley Parkway and Eubanks Drive around 11:30 a.m. Asay was identified through dental records, and foul play was not involved in his death, police Lt. Matt Lydon said.

Asay's body was found trapped in a grate and it appears he drowned, police said.

The canal is on federally owned land and the FBI, Solano County Sheriff's Office and Vacaville Police responded to the discovery, said a spokesperson.
