Save The Date For Solano Community College Art Show

Solano Community College (SCC) Art Department is busy preparing for their upcoming show: “Stonedene” opening on Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the SCC Fairfield Campus, Building 1300’s Art Gallery.

SCC students and faculty will be showing work in a variety of media that focuses on the mysterious beauty and history of the mansion located directly across the street from Solano’s Fairfield Campus’ signature oak tree.

The show will be open during school hours through December 10, 2014. The public is encouraged to attend!

The extensive and rich history of Stonedene goes back to the mid 1800’s. The land where the College now resides was part of the original land grant.

The Stonedene site is recognized as a significant cultural resource, as it has been populated continuously for more than 1,000 years. The famous architect, Julia Morgan, remodeled the home in the 1920’s around the same time that she was designing San Simeon.

About Solano Community College:

The College has served as the preeminent educational institution in Solano County since 1945 when it was founded as Vallejo Junior College. In the early 1970s, the College moved to its present Fairfield site, and is presently serving over 8,000 students throughout the academic year.
