UPDATE on Credit Union Hold-Up: Arrested Man Is Felon, Suspect In More Robberies

A Sacramento man has been arrested in connection with the Friday robbery of a credit union in Fairfield. Police said Maurice Hill, 41, was one of two men who robbed the Solano Federal Credit Union in the 1000 block of Union Avenue.

Police said the two men, one armed with a handgun, entered the credit union at 10:18 a.m., took control of the bank employees, robbed the bank and then fled the area in a stolen vehicle.

Responding officers located the suspects’ vehicle in the area of Washington Street and Bell Avenue, where the suspects tried to get in another vehicle waiting for them.

Officers took one of the men, later identified as Hill, into custody before he was able to get into the second get-away-vehicle, police said.

The second suspect, and the driver of the second vehicle were not apprehended during the ensuing search.

Police said they found a firearm, a suspected controlled substance and evidence related to the robbery at the scene where Hill was taken into custody.

Police said Hill, who is a convicted felon and currently on probation, is also a suspect in two other armed robberies in Fairfield including a Sept. 10 robbery at a gas station in the 3300 block of North Texas Street and a Sept. 12 robbery at a check-cashing store in the 2100 block of North Texas Street.

Hill was arrested on three counts of suspicion of robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, commission of a felony, probation violation and receiving stolen property.
