Update on I-80 Fatality: Bicyclist Was Riding Wrong Way When Struck by 4 Cars, Killed
The tragic accident occurred late Sunday near Pena Adobe Road off-ramp in Vacaville.

A man was riding a bicycle the wrong way in a lane of westbound Interstate Highway 80 in Vacaville late Sunday night when he was struck by four vehicles and killed, California Highway Patrol officials said today.
The bicyclist, whose name has not yet been released, was heading east in the far left lane of westbound Highway 80 east of the Pena Adobe Road off-ramp around 10:10 p.m. when he was struck by a 2001 Audi that was traveling in the second lane, according to the CHP.

The female driver of the Audi tried to avoid hitting the bicyclist by turning and braking but went directly into the bicyclist’s path, CHP officials said.
Three other vehicles then hit the bicyclist.

All four cars stopped at the scene, according to the CHP. The Vacaville Fire Department pronounced the bicyclist dead at 10:22 p.m.
The collision closed westbound Highway 80 until around 12:20 a.m. today, CHP officials said.
