Woman Attacked By Purse Snatcher On North 2nd Street In Dixon

The male suspect fled on East A Street after stealing her handbag Monday morning, police said.

A woman was attacked and her purse stolen by an unknown man early Monday in the 100 block of North 2nd Street in Dixon, according to the Dixon Police Department.

At approximately 4:45 a.m., the female was standing near the trunk of her vehicle she was approached from behind and assaulted, police said.

The suspect then snatched the victim’s bag and fled westbound into the 100 block of East A Street.

The suspect was described as a 20 to 30-year-old African-American male, 6 feet, 190 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes, police said.

The Dixon Police Department encourages citizens to be especially vigilant of their surroundings and contact the police if they have any safety concerns.
