Up To 10K People Attend Opening Of H Mart In Dublin: Reports
Lines snaked around the block at the grand opening of the East Bay's first H Mart.

DUBLIN, CA — As many as 10,000 people spent hours lining up for the grand opening of the new H Mart in Dublin, the popular Korean grocery chain’s first East Bay location, an H Mart representative told SFGate.
The 27,237-square-foot location on Dublin Boulevard celebrated its grand opening Thursday with a ribbon cutting, lion dance performances, and remarks from local officials.
“I think that the question I've been asked the most frequently for the last year is when is H Mart opening. It's a huge boon for our local economy. It's a regional draw,” Dublin Vice Mayor Jean Josey told ABC7.

Though the store officially opened at 10 a.m., some shoppers arrived over three hours early. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the first person in line was Jamie Nguyen of Oakland, who arrived at 6:45 a.m. According to KRON4, the line snaked around the block, and people were seen waiting in front of stores like Michaels and Marshalls.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Albert Lee of Dublin told The Chronicle. “Most of the people in the Korean community have been dying to have a Korean market closer.”
