H Mart initially announced plans to open a Dublin location in 2022. The New Jersey-based supermarket currently operates over 100 stores across 18 different states, including two in San Jose and one in San Francisco. H Mart announced in January that it would break ground on a Fremont location at some point at the end of 2026. The two-story, 100,000-square-foot location at the Pacific Commons Shopping Center will be its largest planned location in the United States, and will feature a grocery store, a food hall, full-service and fast-casual restaurants, a bar, and an entertainment area.

Several other Asian supermarkets have opened recently or plan to open soon in the Bay Area. Korean supermarket Mega Mart plans to open at an undetermined point at 2480 Dublin Boulevard, the former location of Lucky Supermarket.
