245,000 Gallons of Water Lost After Two Breaks in Dublin Water Lines
That much water could fill about 15 swimming pools!

DUBLIN, CA: Pavement repairs needed as a result of two separate water line breaks in Dublin on Sunday will be completed near the end of March, water services district spokesperson Sue Stephenson said.
District officials estimated that about 245,000 gallons of potable water were lost, which also damaged Vomac Road and Cypress Court. About 70 customers were without water during the repairs.
A corroded water connector, which was determined to be the cause of the break on Vomac Road in front of the Dublin Elementary playground, was fully repaired by midday on Monday. The road near the school sustained damage during the dramatic flooding, causing road closures near the elementary school. The school district coordinated with Dublin Police for traffic control to ensure a safe drop-off process for students Monday morning. Water service was interrupted for about 50 customers during the overnight repair work. The school’s water was not affected.

Soon after the first break, an 8-inch pipe split along four to five feet of the length of the pipe on Cypress Court. Cypress Court was closed for most of the day and final repairs are scheduled to take place next week, according to Stephenson. Water service for about 20 homes was impacted. The district estimated that about 45,000 gallons of potable water were lost during that break.
Alameda County Fire personnel worked in the rain to quickly contain the leaks until water district crews arrived to start the repairs.
