The virtual ceremony was led by Tim Sbranti, also a former Dublin Mayor and currently a trustee for the Chabot Las Positas Community College District. In his opening remarks Mr Sbranti mentioned Haubert's commitment to community, family and faith as his foundation. Pastor Steve Madsen, Senior Paster at Cornerstone Fellowship led the invocation and mentioned that leadership should do what love requires and although it was not always an easy or fun job, it is a calling to serve others. Mention was also made of the 600 people in the County who had lost their lives in the pandemic, their grieving families, the frontline workers, small businesses that are struggling and school teachers, their students and parents.

Katelyn, Haubert's eldest daughter and an Educator at UC Irvine, read a letter she had written to her father where she described his passion for public service and referred to him as a "#girldad" who didn't mind sharing a household with four strong women. An excerpt from the letter read "He always encouraged us to speak our minds, take on leadership positions, and negotiate for what we wanted. Because of his unwavering support, I was able to complete my educational goals and pursue a career I love. No matter how busy he was between work, volunteering and his duties as an elected official, he always had time to listen to me and my sisters and help us through life. My Dad has also shown me what a good partner should be - his love and respect for my mom through 29 years together is truly beautiful."

Haubert's wife, Michele, was by his side during the swearing in and Supervisor Haggerty acknowledged her compassionate and caring nature saying that kindness is a wonderful attribute for the County's first lady as there will be some tough times ahead.

Mr Sbranti thanked Supervisor Haggerty for his 24 years of service and indicated that since succeeding Ed Campbell he had carried on a legacy of excellent service as a passionate leader and it was unfortunate that there could be no public in-person tribute although that he was hopeful that Supervisor Haubert would be able to continue the traditional barbecue in summer.

In an emotional moment Supervisor Haggerty acknowledged that it had been a difficult decision not to run again and mentioned some his accomplishments during office. He pointed out that there was a lot of work to be done, like the fire training center and the Valley Link Project, and it would be overshadowed by Covid-19 and homelessness. The purchase of the N3 ranch property to protect as open space for perpetuity is also an ongoing project he would enjoy being called back to celebrate in the future.

Speaking after taking the Oath of Office, Supervisor Haubert said that elected officials take the oath to serve the community. He said that residents deserve a leader who listens and hears their needs and concerns and he promised that he would advocate for them and a better life to the best of his ability. He recognized that the hard work and dedication of County staff where integral to an effective office and that he was humbled to join the Board of Supervisors.
