Today's riddle: Do you know what the two sides of a circle are? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. First Annual Dublin Student Speech Competition Awarding Roughly $1500 In Prizes (patch.com) — Dublin students have a new chance to shine at the East Bay Chinese Association's first annual speech competition, held Oct. 10 at the Dublin Library Community Room. Middle and high school participants can tackle timely topics like AI in education while competing for a share of roughly $1,500 in prizes, with a Dublin councilmember serving as chief judge.
2. $35 Million Senior-Care Campus Breaks Ground in Dublin Bay Area Telegraph (bayareatelegraph.com) — Construction is underway on a $35 million Inspiration Memory Care facility near Dublin Boulevard and Inspiration Drive, bringing 55 specialized beds for residents with memory loss by fall 2027. A second assisted-living building is planned for 2028, together adding 139 senior-care beds and expanding options for older adults in rapidly growing west Dublin and the wider Tri-Valley.
3. Dublin Opens Two Public Sessions on 19-Home Schaefer Ranch Expansion Open Governance (opgov.news) — Dublin neighbors in Schaefer Ranch have two Zoom meetings this week to question planners about a proposal for 19 new single-family homes at the western end of Dublin Boulevard. While the hillside housing was previously approved, residents can still weigh in on design changes, lot line adjustments, and construction impacts like traffic and grading above Dublin Boulevard.
4. Arrest Connects Pleasanton Teen to Dozens of Commercial Burglaries Across Three Counties (bayareatelegraph.com) — A Pleasanton teen suspected in a wave of commercial burglaries across three counties was arrested at the Alameda County Probation Office in Dublin, with Dublin officers assisting San Ramon police. Investigators say the case is tied to dozens of break-ins, including a major Pleasanton spree, and are still pursuing additional suspects while coordinating closely with Dublin and other Tri-Valley departments.
5. Local Leaders Call To End the Tri-Valley Homelessness Crisis (independentnews.com) — Rising homelessness in Dublin and the broader Tri-Valley is bucking the countywide downward trend, with a 28% increase locally and only about 100 of 480 unhoused residents sheltered. County leaders, service providers, and police are pushing coordinated Housing First strategies and inviting residents to weigh in on the Home Together 2030 plan online through Oct. 1.
