Fatal Shootings Of Dublin Man, Girlfriend: Arrest Made

DUBLIN, CA — An Oakland man has been charged with special circumstances murder for allegedly fatally shooting a Dublin man and his girlfriend during a robbery in East Oakland last month.
Keith Riley, 36, is accused of killing Ryan Wasilausky, 20, and his girlfriend, Giovanna "Gigi" Giannini, 20, of Daly City.
Wasilausky and Giannini were found fatally shot inside a silver 2016 Ford Focus that crashed into a home in the 500 block of Douglas Avenue, a residential neighborhood in the Brookfield Village area, at 11:07 a.m. on Sept. 28, according to police.

They were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Riley was identified as the suspect based on video surveillance footage, witness statements, text messages, social media and records from Wasilausky and Riley that placed him with them before and after the fatal shooting, Oakland police Officer Wenceslao Garcia wrote in a probable cause
statement.

Riley was arrested at his home in the 2300 block of 100th Avenue in East Oakland at 5:30 p.m. last Thursday, according to police.
Garcia wrote that when investigators interviewed Riley, he denied killing Wasilausky and Giannini but made contradictory statements about where he was at the time of the shooting.
Riley is charged with two counts of murder, the special circumstances of committing multiple murders and committing a murder during the course of a robbery and second-degree robbery.
According to the Oakland Police Department, the couple was in town to attend the Rolling Loud Bay Area hip-hop festival.
Wasilausky grew up in Dublin and was remembered by friends and family during a celebration of life at John Knox Church on Friday.
Born in Walnut Creek, he was the second child of Kristin Silva and Jon Wasilausky, according to a GoFundMe page. Wasilausky grew up in Dublin and graduated from Dublin High School in 2017. He was in his third year at Cal State East Bay, where he was studying business, according to the GoFundMe page.
"Ryan was a self starter from a young age and had an unsurpassed drive to achieve his goals. He took great pleasure in showering his family with love and gifts," the page said.
He enjoyed traveling with "his beloved girlfriend Gigi, cooking, and spending time with his friends. He was treasured by all who knew him and will be deeply missed," the page continued.
Wasilausky is survived by his parents, Kristin Silva of Dublin and Jon Wasilausky of Washington D.C.; siblings, Lauren Wasilausky of Long Beach, and Gavin Wasilausky of Dublin; grandparents, Gerald and Judith Silva of Fremont, and Bob and Carol Wasilausky of Pensacola, Fla.; his fur son, Goyard; and many loving extended family and cherished friends, the page said.
According to an obituary for Giannini, her death came just two days before her 21st birthday.
"Gigi was a loving, funny, beautiful young woman with a passion for beauty," the obituary read. "She lit up a room with just a smile. Her affection toward her mother and grandparents was exemplary. People were drawn to her loving, sweet, gentle hearted nature."
She is survived by her mother, Irma Gomez-Giannini; father, Jeff Boesswetter; biological father, Robert Giannini; brother, Robert Jr; maternal grandparents, Eberardo and Carmen Gomez; maternal uncles and aunts: Rene, Eberardo Jr., Hector, Gustavo, Maria, Jose, and Ruby; paternal uncles: Walter and Tommy; and 19 first cousins.
