Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested at West Dublin BART Station

Dublin Police said the suspect fled the area on a bicycle.

DUBLIN, CA — A man who allegedly robbed a Bank of the West in Dublin was arrested Tuesday afternoon, Dublin Police officials said.

Officers responded to 7533 Dublin Boulevard around 11:14 a.m. to investigate a report of a bank robbery.

According to police, the man entered the bank and demanded money from the teller. The man was last seen fleeing the area on a bicycle with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers searching the area found 57-year-old Andrew Smith on the West Dublin BART
station platform. Police said Smith matched the suspect description and was identified by witnesses as the suspect.

“A subsequent search of Smith’s belongings revealed he was in possession of a large amount of cash and other evidence, which implicated him in the robbery,” police said in a statement.

Smith has been booked into the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
