4 Arrested in Connection with Recent East Dublin Residential Burglaries

Police say one of the occupants was allegedly found to be in possession of a stolen firearm while another reportedly had a glass punch tool.

DUBLIN, CA: A report of a loud door knock at a home on Dublin's east side led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Richmond man late Thursday night, Dublin Police officials confirmed.

According to a statement released by police, deputies responding to the area of Basset Way just before midnight saw a suspect run from the front yard of a home and jump into a blue 1996 Toyota Camry.

Deputies stopped the car and identified Israel Johnson, 18, of Richmond as the driver. Police said one of the occupants was allegedly in possession of a loaded firearm reported stolen from Antioch, while the another occupant reportedly had a glass punch tool.

"Johnson provided a Mirandized statement, telling detectives that the group had come to Dublin with the specific intention of committing a residential burglary in the city," police officials said.

The three juveniles were issued citations and released to their guardians. Johnson was booked into the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

In an effort to curb the recent increase in residential burglaries occurring throughout the east side of Dublin, police have increased patrols and met with neighborhood watch teams, Dublin Police Lieutenant Nate Schmidt said in a previous Patch article.

Residents in the Positano and Dublin Ranch neighborhoods say their communities have been on high alert in the wake of the burglaries.

Police officials are crediting alert residents with the Thursday night arrests and ask citizens to continue to be vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity.
