As scams grow more complex with the rise of digital technology and increased online activity, older adults are targeted by bad actors seeking to exploit their trust vulnerability, and accumulated savings. But scammers are meeting stiff resistance in Alameda County, and an upcoming event organized by Adult and Aging Services can help you become part of the solution.
In honor of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, AAS-Area Agency on Aging is hosting a “Scam Jam” June 16th, 9am, at the San Leandro Senior Community Center. This community event is for older adults 60 and over who want to learn how to help protect themselves. The program will bring together expert presenters from the State, consumer protection organizations, and a group of high school students who got involved after family members were targeted.
