Councilmember Jean Josey Announces 2024 Run For Dublin Mayor
Josey, a five-year councilmember, is one of two announced candidates. She was the 2016 Dublin Citizen of the Year.

DUBLIN, CA — Dublin Councilmember Jean Josey announced that she is running for mayor in the 2024 election. Josey was the first person to announce her candidacy, and was followed by Councilmember Sherry Hu. Both women are vying to replace current Mayor Melissa Hernandez, who will be termed out next year.
Josey has served on the Dublin City Council since 2018, and won re-election in 2022, the year she served as vice mayor. She has lived in Dublin since 2000, and served on several local boards and committees, including:
- City of Dublin Fiscal Sustainability Task Force
- President, Treasurer, Secretary, Dublin Elementary Parent Faculty Club
- President, Treasurer, Wells Middle School Parent Faculty Club
- Chairperson, Secretary, Dublin High School Site Council
- After School Math Tutor, Wells Middle School
- Assistant Coach, Dublin United Soccer League
- Troop Leader, Girls Scouts of America
- Co-Chairperson, By-Laws Committee, Briarhill Swim Team
- Chairperson, Yes on Measure B Parcel Tax Committee
- Chairperson (2 years), Wells Middle School Crab Feed
- Co-Chairperson, Every 15 Minutes (Anti-Drunk Driving Awareness Program)

Josey has received the Dublin Unified School District Volunteer Recognition Award (2012), the DUSD Superintendent Award (2016), and in 2016 was named Dublin Citizen of the Year.

Josey lists fiscal sustainability, public safety, controlled growth, better transportation, supporting local businesses, parks and recreation, cooperation with the DUSD Board, inclusion, and a more unified community as her top priorities.
“My promise to voters is that I will listen to all residents and business owners in Dublin,” Josey said in a campaign statement. “I will do thorough research on all issues that come before the council. I will let those conversations and that research inform my decisions, and I will ultimately vote based on what I believe is right for the long-term well-being of the city that I have called home since 2000.”
