Dublin based mixed media Artist part of Feeling Good Art Exhibit

Sudhi Nema, an artist based in Dublin California, had an artwork selected to be part of the Feeling Good Art Exhibit in Livermore.

The Pleasanton Art League, the Livermore Art Association and the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center offered local artists the opportunity to interpret the Feeling Good theme and the works of art produced are part of an exhibition being held at the Bankhead Theater Gallery until June 27.

The theme for the exhibition is upbeat and fun and an Artists’ Reception was held at the location last Sunday.

“The reception was a good opportunity for me to meet fellow artists whose work was on display and exchange views on each other’s work” said Ms Nema. “I am definitely looking for many more such events in future to showcase my work and connect with other artists and people who admire and value the creative process.”

Ms Nema thanked the exhibit organizers for encouraging art appreciation and for providing a platform for the work of local artists.

Ms Nema’s piece entitled Transformation is a mixed media abstract of vibrant blue and gray hues. The eye-catching piece with delicate green and yellow accents is a popular attraction.

When asked why Ms Nema decided to have a piece considered for this exhibition she responded “I believe that everything around us living or non-living impacts us at a subtle level. A visual art is a very powerful medium to bring positivity and align one’s inner-self with the outer world. The theme “Feeling Good” was so apt hence I decided to showcase my work in this exhibit.”

Ms Nema’s artistic journey began in early childhood and her first artwork was a gift to her grandfather.

“I feel blessed that my father is also a good artist and I was fortunate to learn from some world renowned artists at an early age back in India” she said.

Ms Nema explained that “Transformation starts from within and it is a process of change inside first then out. I had expressed this view through my artwork where the “dot” is the starting point within and expanding out. During the “churning” all negativity (dark color) is released and transformed into positivity and bliss. The remaining interpretation of the piece I leave to the audience as this is an abstract.”

An artist does not make a conscious choice to work in mixed media, commented Ms Nema, and for her it is an expression of how she felt and how this was translated onto canvas. Sometimes it requires more elements than just paint and brush, hence the use of mixed media.

She loves to take her work to the right audience where it is well received and respected.

She has been imparting her artistic skills to the younger generation as part of the “Carving out the Creativity” program and has been organizing specialized classes and camps for young artists on a regular basis in the area as she believes that innovation cannot occur without nurturing creativity.

“My artwork is not merely a show piece or decoration,” said Ms Nema “it should be part of your home and your life, and it should relate to your inner-self and be in harmony with what you aspire for.”
