Dublin Celebrates 40th Anniversary With New Downtown Sign, Poem
The city also hosted a reception with current and past mayors, the city historian, and Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahern.

DUBLIN, CA — The City of Dublin kicked off its 40th anniversary with a reception from Mayor Melissa Hernanez, Dublin Historian Steve Minniear, Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahern, and former Dublin Mayor David Haubert.
Dublin Poet Laureate James Morehead also read his original poem written in honor of the city’s anniversary called “At the crossroads.” Morehead said that the poem was based on two books about the city and interviews with current Dubliners.
“We made our new home here on a parcel carved from clay soil, surrounded by immigrants like us, a diverse chorus of languages, voices, and cultures. In time, neighbors became friends,” Morehead said. “We felt Dublin winds soar over Schaefer Ranch, Pacific fog in tow, basked in midsummer’s endless blue, and awoke into mountains draped in white by fierce winter storm.”

The city also welcomed a new Downtown Gateway sign at the corner of San Ramon Road and Dublin Boulevard. The sign has been under construction for about four months, and was budgeted for $200,000, according to city spokesperson Shari Jackman. The sign will anchor a new development, which will contain a Starbucks and Sleep Number.
