Dublin City Council to Appoint Open City Council Seat

Interested Candidates Must Hand Deliver Signed Applications by the 3:00 p.m. Deadline on December 10; No Postmarks Accepted

At the December 2 meeting of the Dublin City Council, the City Council decided to conduct an appointment process for the vacant city council seat resulting from David Haubert being elected as Mayor. The City Council will consider this appointment at its December 16 City Council meeting.

The City will begin accepting applications for the City Council vacancy beginning today, Wednesday, December 3, at 12 p.m. (noon) through Wednesday, December 10, until 3:00 p.m. All applications must be hand delivered and received by the City Clerk by this deadline; no postmarks will be accepted. Applications can be found on the City’s website, www.dublin.ca.gov, or in person by visiting the City Clerk’s Office at Dublin City Hall, 100 Civic Plaza.

To select the candidate, the Dublin City Council will hold a public interview process at its December 16 City Council meeting, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Applicants must be present at this meeting and will be asked to make a three-minute presentation, followed by a question and answer period with the City Council. If the City Council is able to reach a decision that evening, the selected candidate would begin serving the term of the vacated seat immediately at the meeting.

This City Council seat expires December 2016. Should the City Council not be able to reach a decision that evening, a Special Meeting of the City Council will be held at a future date to make the appointment prior to January 30, 2015.
