Dublin Names 2025 Citizen Of The Year, Organization Of The Year
The city announced the winners of Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Organization of the Year, and more.

DUBLIN, CA — The city of Dublin honored its 2025 Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Organization of the Year, and recipients of the Mayor’s Award and Mayor’s Legacy Award at an event last Wednesday at the Shannon Community Center.
Winners were nominated by community members and selected by a committee.
Citizen of the Year: Luong Dang, owner of the Taqueria Azteca, has donated meals to multiple organizations and personally delivered food to community volunteers. He often covered transportation and expenses himself. Dang also opened his business as a holiday donation drop-off hub, and provided free meals to residents who contributed toy donations.

Young Citizen of the Year: High school senior Rabia Badar raised more than $25,000 to purchase and distribute over 120 laptops to underserved community members. She also volunteered at the Alameda County Community Food Bank, helped Los Angeles wildfire victims, and fundraised to help local food-insecure families.
Organization of the Year: By supporting the Dublin Senior Center, the Dublin Senior Foundation has helped provide social, recreational, and education opportunities to more than 250 people a day, despite rising costs and an increased demand for services.

Mayor’s Award: Dublin Mayor Sherry Hu presented the Mayor’s Award to Kathy Zhu, the founder and president of the Silicon Valley Asian Association. Through this organization, Zhu helped organize and co-sponsor major cultural celebrations like Diwali and Lunar New Year.
Mayor’s Legacy Award: The Dublin Chamber of Commerce provides networking opportunities, marketing support, leadership development, and community events to help local businesses grow and succeed. For many decades, the chamber has played an important role in strengthening the city’s businesses and economy.
Recipients were recognized at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The Organization of the Year will receive a $500 cash prize, while the Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year will designate a nonprofit to receive a $300 donation. Two finalists in each category will also receive $200 donations to the nonprofits of their choice.
