Dublin Schools to Conduct Lockdown Drill This Week

School officials say the drill is scheduled for March 3 at 9 a.m.

Information submitted by Dublin Unified School District:

The Dublin Unified School District will conduct a district-wide lockdown drill on Tuesday, March 3 at 9 a.m. at all school sites and the district office. Each school will participate in the drill following protocols that have been established in district and site-safety plans.

“It is the district’s top priority to provide our children with a safe learning environment,” said Superintendent Stephen Hanke. “This lockdown drill is an important step in our preparations to secure our campuses and ensure the safety of our students.”

We are asking the general community to be aware that during the lockdown drill, visitors to campus will be required to lock-down on school sites and no additional visitors will be admitted to campuses until after the drill is concluded. This should cause minimal disruption, but is intended to provide a drill that closely simulates an actual lockdown scenario.

In addition, James Dougherty Elementary School will be participating in the lockdown drill in conjunction with the Dublin Police Department, who will evaluate their action plan.

Please do not be alarmed if you see a number of police cars on or around the Dougherty campus. The presence of the Dublin P.D. will assist the district in evaluating and improving school safety plans for the benefit of our students.

Parents with questions have been advised to contact their site principals. All media inquiries should be directed to the Superintendent’s Office.
