Family Caregiver Education Series: Exploring legal and financial matters

To help community members who are caring for a loved one, Hope Hospice presents, "Exploring Legal and Financial Matters".

Planning for the incapacity of a loved one is an extremely difficult, yet crucial task. To help community members who are caring for a loved one, Hope Hospice presents, “Exploring Legal and Financial Matters” on Saturday, May 14, from 9:45 a.m. to noon. This class will cover information about working with professionals to help ensure that families receive the most accurate information about options and protection. Topics in this session include: establishing powers of attorney, guardianships and conservatorships, trusts and wills; managing finances, paying for long-term care, and accessing government assistance programs such as Medi-Cal and Veterans benefits; examining issues surrounding elder abuse and fraud; and implementing advance healthcare directives. Speakers include Debbie Emerson, Community and Family Health Educator and Hope Hospice Community Education Volunteer; and Julie Fielder, RN, Certified Elder Law Attorney, Horizon Elder Law.
