The Oath of Office was administered to the re-elected Mayor and newly elected City Councilmembers. County Supervisor Scott Haggerty was present for the proceedings and in his remarks reminded the Council that their mission was to serve their constituents to the best of their ability.

Mayor Haubert presented plaques to outgoing Councilmember Janine Thalblum and Councilmember Abe Gupta in appreciation of their dedicated service to the City of Dublin.

Councilmember Thalblum commented that her eight months in office went by quickly and she had big shoes to fill as the late Vice Mayor Don Biddle was the epitome of public service and she did her best to honor his legacy. Councilmember Thalblum also noted that Dublin had tremendously talented staffers and it had been a joyous experience serving the City and added that she was confident in the message sent by the voters in the new members they have elected.

The City Council's policy is to select, in December of each year, a member of the City Council to serve as Vice Mayor for a period of one year. In the absence of the Mayor, the Vice Mayor would become Mayor Pro Tempore and would temporarily assume the responsibilities of the Mayor. The Council unanimously selected Councilmember Melissa Hernandez to serve as Vice Mayor for another year.
