DUBLIN, CA — Nearly two years after a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Public Safety Complex, a grand opening will be held at the new building for Dublin Police Services and Alameda County Fire Department administrative offices, the City of Dublin announced.

The $15 million project included the demolition of two buildings, renovation of one building and reconstruction of another.

Alameda County Fire personnel had occupied the space since 2014 but relocated during construction, the city said in a statement.

Dublin officials said in 2018 that police had outgrown their current station. Police administration, operations and other services will be housed at the building, which features a larger Emergency Operations Center, and briefing and training room, the city said.

The new complex features a 17-foot aluminum sculpture with red and blue glass that pays tribute to the police and fire agencies. "Ribbon" was created by Gordon Huether and text that reads "Commitment, Honor, Integrity and Trust."

“Dublin Police Services is looking forward to moving into our new location so we can continue to provide a high quality of service to the community we serve,” said Dublin Police Chief Garrett Holmes in the statement. “The new facility will provide us with the space we need to grow as a department.”

The current police services building at the Dublin Civic Center will see its lower level turned into a Cultural Arts Center. Parks and Community Services staff will move into the upper floor.

The new police station is at 6361 Clark Ave. in Dublin. The grand opening will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 22, and feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and catered barbecue lunch provided by the Dublin Lions Club, the city said.
