Tri-Valley Coast Guard Spouses Collecting Donations In Dublin

DUBLIN, CA — The Tri-Valley Coast Guard Spouses, a community group in Camp Parks, are asking for the public's help with donations for local Coast Guard families struggling to make ends meet during the partial government shutdown.

Donations will be accepted at the Camp Parks Visitor Center from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The donations will be distributed on Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Camp Parks MWR located on 9th St. in Dublin between 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. All active duty Coast Guard members and their families, as well as civilian employees affected by the shutdown are welcome. Organizers say a military ID is required.

The thousands of active duty members of the Coast Guard continue rescuing stranded boaters, patrolling our ocean borders and other duties. Those employees are not getting paid.

Dublin resident Leanne Brown said the Tri-Valley Coast Guard Spouses have coordinated with the Coast Guard Enlisted Associations for the donation drive.

They are accepting non-perishable and perishable food items, toiletries, canned goods, laundry detergent, hygiene products, soap, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, deodorant, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, gift cards in $20 increments for gas and grocery stores.

Camp Parks is located at 275 Camp Parks Blvd. in Dublin.
