Tri-Valley Teen ID'd As Fatality Victim In Shooting, Crash
The school senior, active in local youth radio, was shot to death, and the car in which he was riding crashed last week into a Fremont home.

SAN RAMON, CA – A teenager who was fatally shot while he and another person were driving in Fremont last week was identified today by the Alameda County coroner's bureau as 17-year-old Damani Chadly, a senior at California High School in San Ramon.
An online fundraiser underway said both the boy's father, "Radio Reem" Kareem, and his son and only child, also known as Elijah, were active in Youth Radio and the Bay Area media community.
"Damani was not only an impressive artist and welcoming person, but he was also an outstanding student, musician and friend," said the creator of the GoFundMe effort.

Officers who responded to the shooting in the 34000 block of Torrington Court at 11:18 p.m. on Dec. 4 found Chadly with multiple gunshot wounds in the passenger seat of the vehicle, which had crashed into a home at the corner of Chaucer Drive and Torrington Court, police said.
Chadly was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:35 p.m., however police said witnesses reported a second male running away. Officers located that individual nearby at about 11:50 p.m. also suffering from gunshot wounds.

The second victim was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injuries but was since released, according to Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques. The investigation into the shooting is continuing, and no one has been arrested, Bosques said.
Coroner's officials didn't officially list a city of residence for Chadly, but the GoFundMe campaign, that seeks to raise $35,000 for Chadly's family for funeral expenses and the possible start to an arts and music foundation, listed his high school, along with highlighting Chadly's involvement with the youth radio.
"We’ve known Damani since he was a child, always full of life and bustling energy," the web site's creator states. "He was a vibrant and talented young man who was a part of the fabric of our life and work. He graduated Youth Radio’s Core and Bridge programs and went on to teach music production and contribute beats to numerous songs and mix-tapes."
The site says the GoFundMe campaign was set up by the Youth Radio Alumni Network. Find the page here.
