Twinning: Dublin, CA Helps Dublin, Ireland Celebrate 4th of July

Irish revelers are taking a cue from the Americans and enjoying burgers, brew, cheerleaders, American football and fireworks. #LovinUSA

All of us who live in Dublin know that we enjoy the Irish St. Patrick’s Day holiday so much that we celebrate for three days straight every year. Now the Irish are learning to enjoy our most American holiday of the year: 4th of July.

How do folks in Dublin, Ireland learn to party the All-American way? They get the scoop from the mayor the All-American city of Dublin, California, of course!

Dublin Mayor David Haubert said he gave the Irish news site LovinDublin some very red, white and blue tips about traditional recipes Americans prepare and how we celebrate Independence Day every July 4th.

Haubert sent the following ideas for successful July 4th celebration to Irish planning the quintessential American 4th of July bash:

“Picnic food, hamburgers, hot dogs, apple pie with vanilla ice cream and American beer like Sam Adams, sports such as American football or baseball, fireworks (the safe and sane kind), and spend it [the 4th] with friends and family,” Haubert said.

How did the two Dublins connect and share photos on fourth of July? They used the hashtags #lovinusa and #lovindublin to curate photos from the Irish 4th of July Festival hosted by LovinDublin. According to the Lovindublin website, the Irish are pulling out all of the stops for their fourth of July celebration.

Come down to Donnybrook Stadium this Saturday and celebrate the 4th of July the American way. Enjoy burgers and chicken wings with a cool brew, watch classics on our big screen & stay for the amazing fireworks show later in the evening

Dubliners in Ireland took to Twitter to comment about the 4th of July festival in the Emerald Isle.
