Deadly Home Invasion: Woman Killed, Man Wounded In Dublin

A resident fired on suspects, killing one and wounding the other.

DUBLIN, CA — A woman is dead and a man injured in what Dublin police say may have been an attempted home invasion robbery.

Wednesday around 11:30 p.m., Dublin police were called to a home in the 3400 block of Monaghan Street. The resident said he was awakened by banging on his front door. He told police that he grabbed a gun and went to see what the commotion was about, according to Dublin Police Services Captain Nate Schmidt.

When the resident opened his door, he told police he saw a man pointing a gun at him, and a woman who he recognized as his ex-girlfriend.

The duo attempted to assault the resident. In self-defense, the resident fired his gun at the pair as he escaped out of his house. The male suspect also fired at the resident, but didn't hit him, Schmidt said.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the woman, 28 years old, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving attempts, she died at the scene. The male suspect, also 28, suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital, Schmidt said.
