• Cal State LA and LEEAF support East LA residents in pathway to community council (calstatela.edu) — Unincorporated East Los Angeles residents are a step closer to having their own community council, after Cal State LA and LEEAF released a detailed report based on extensive local forums and outreach. The findings will now guide an upcoming LA County report that could shape how East LA gains stronger representation, accountability, and a dedicated advisory body for neighborhood concerns. 
• Self Help Graphics' Día de los Muertos celebration returns to Boyle Heights (thelalocal.org) — East Los Angeles residents can join a free series of Día de los Muertos art workshops starting this Saturday at the East Los Angeles County Library, with all materials provided. The same organizers are also bringing their beloved Día de los Muertos block party back to nearby Boyle Heights in November, featuring live music, community altars, food vendors, and hands-on craft activities for all ages.
• Mexico's 40-hr workweek: 93 days to the first enforcement trigger (latinpost.com) — A major cut to Mexico’s standard workweek taking effect January 1, 2027, could reshape costs and schedules for freight corridors and warehouses tied to East Los Angeles. Local Mexican-American logistics operators may see tighter margins and contract changes, even as many families welcome shorter workweeks for relatives in Mexico and stronger labor protections across the border.
