The City of Newark is inviting the community to lace up their running shoes and come together for a morning of fitness and fun at the Run 4 Fun: Family Fun Run & 4K Race on Saturday, May 2 at Lakeshore Park.
This family-friendly event offers something for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a relaxed walk with loved ones. The Family Fun Run begins with check-in at 9:00 a.m. and features a single lap around Newark Lake (approximately 1.25 miles), making it perfect for beginners and participants of all ages. Children ages 3 and under can join in for free.
For those seeking a bit more of a challenge, the 4K Race will check in at 9:30 a.m. and includes two laps around the lake (approximately 2.49 miles). Competitive runners can look forward to podium recognition and prizes awarded to the top three finishers in each age group and gender.
Participants will meet at the Boathouse at Lakeshore Park, creating a scenic and welcoming setting for the day’s activities. Early bird registration is available through April 15, with pricing set at $10 per person for the Family Fun Run and $20 per person for the 4K Race.
The Run 4 Fun event continues to be a staple in Newark’s community programming, encouraging residents to stay active, connect with neighbors, and enjoy the outdoors in a fun, inclusive environment.
