1 Killed In Crash On I-5 Near 10 Connector

BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA --- One person was killed today when a sedan struck the back of a big rig on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights, authorities said.

The accident was reported at 4 a.m. on the northbound Santa Ana Freeway just south of where it meets the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway, said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A SigAlert was issued, with all lanes of the northbound Santa Ana Freeway blocked for the investigation and clean-up just south of the interchange, Kimball said.
