András Schiff completes his
extraordinary two-year survey of Bach’s solo keyboard music with three October
recitals. “…it was as if Mr. Schiff were channeling Bach, not just performing
him.” The New York Times

Likely the first set of keyboard suites Bach ever composed, the
“English” Suites got their name by a chance association years after Bach was
dead. The music is actually more French in the styles of the time, and has much
in common with the suites for solo cello that Bach composed about the same
time.

Hungarian pianist András Schiff, who won a Grammy for his
recording of the English Suites.
