Car Chase Suspect Shot by Police in Boyle Heights Dies in Hospital

The exact sequence of events that led to the shooting was not immediately clear, police said.

LOS ANGELES, CA - A vehicle chase Thursday night in Boyle Heights ended with an officer-involved shooting that left one suspect dead and another in custody.

The shooting occurred in the 1200 block of Atwood Place, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im.

Officers began chasing a reported stolen vehicle at 7:09 p.m., according to Im.

The exact sequence of events that led to the shooting was not immediately clear, but Im said the passenger of the vehicle sustained a gunshot wound and the driver was unharmed.

Both were taken into custody and the wounded suspect was taken to a hospital and later died, Im said.

The ages and genders of the suspects were not disclosed and it was unclear where the chase began and how long it lasted.
