Director Spike Jonze​ Escapes Armed Burglar In His Los Feliz Home

Director Spike Jonze​ was able to escape after finding an armed burglar in his home Tuesday morning, triggering an hours-long SWAT standoff.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Director Spike Jonze confronted a knife-weilding burglary suspect at his Los Feliz area home Tuesday morning, triggering an hours-long police standoff.

The "Being John Malkovich" and "Adaptation" director arrived home early Tuesday to find an armed burglary suspect in his house, but he was able to escape unarmed, TMZ reported. Shortly after, officers went to the home at the 4000 block of Farmouth Drive at about 6:15 a.m. and found the suspect still inside, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Knowing an armed intruder was holed up inside, A SWAT Team surrounded the home and waited for nearly four hours for the suspect to surrender. He came out of the home and surrendered without incident at about 10:30 a.m., according to the LAPD.

Jonze, who won an Oscar for his screenplay "Her," suffered no injuries according to reports.
