Foul Ball Killed Fan At Dodger Stadium
A woman celebrating her 79th birthday and 59th anniversary at a Dodgers game died after she was struck in the head by a foul ball.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A 79-year-old Dodgers fan died in August after she was hit in the head by a foul ball during a game at Dodger Stadium, it was reported Monday.
Linda Goldbloom, a mother of three and grandmother of seven, was hit during the 9th inning of the Aug. 25th game against the San Diego Padres. She was celebrating both her 79th birthday and her 59th wedding anniversary, according to ESPN, which first broke the story of Goldbloom's death Monday. A few days later, On Aug. 29, she died, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
The coroner's office concluded that she died of acute intracranial hemorrhage and blunt force trauma. Goldbloom, a longtime fan of the Dodgers, attended the game with her her husband and her brother- and sister-in-law. They sat in lower level of the stands on the first-base side.

Somehow, the foul ball traveled over safety netting protecting those in lower seats, ESPN reported.
``Mr. and Mrs. Goldbloom were great Dodgers fans who regularly attended games," the Dodgers said in a written statement. "We were deeply saddened by this tragic accident and the passing of Mrs. Goldbloom. The matter has been resolved between the Dodgers and the Goldbloom family. We cannot comment further on this matter."

According to ESPN, Goldbloom was the third person to be killed by a foul ball in Major League Baseball's 150-year history, including another tragedy that killed a fan nearly half a century ago at Dodger Stadium.
