LOS ANGELES, CA – A man arrested outside actress Natalie Portman's Los Angeles home for allegedly violating a restraining order was being held Wednesday on $500,000 bail.

Gregory Pearce, 23, was taken into custody about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday after police went to the Oscar winner's Los Feliz residence on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon suspect at the location, said Los Angeles police Officer Tony Im.

Pearce was booked on suspicion of violating a restraining order, Im said. He was being held on $500,000 bail, jail records show.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge issued the restraining order in March, ordering Pearce to stay away from the actress. Portman requested the order after Pearce showed up outside her house on Jan. 31 and stood there for 20 minutes trying to open the gate, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Pearce didn't respond when someone inside the house asked him over an intercom why he was there, so Portman called police, according to the actress' restraining order request.
