Mother Shot While Defending Teens Being Sexually Harassed by Carload of Men

A mother was shot at an LA bus stop when she confronted men making unwanted advances at her teenaged daughter and friend.

LOS ANGELES, CA- A woman was shot and seriously wounded when she confronted the driver of a carload of males who were harassing her 17-year-old daughter and another girl at a Pico-Union bus stop, authorities said today.

Two teenage girls were sitting at a bus stop when a car with men inside pulled up and the driver started flirting and pressuring the girls to get in the car, Los Angeles police Officer I. Ibarra said. One of the girls called her mother.

When the mother arrived, she confronted the driver and was shot twice in the lower abdomen, the officer said.

One of the girls was shot in a leg. The shooting at Pico Boulevard and Bonnie Brae Street was reported about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Ibarra said.

The mother and the teen had stable vital signs at a hospital, Ibarra said.
