Pedestrian Death At 5/101 Transition Triggers Rush Hour SigAlert

A pedestrian on the 5/101 Freeway transition was struck and killed Thursday, tying up morning traffic for hours.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed on the 5 Freeway transition to the 101 Freeway Thursday, triggering an hours-long SigAlert.

Paramedics sent to the freeway near Whittier Boulevard shortly after 5 a.m. pronounced the person dead at the scene, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The northbound freeway was closed while an investigation was conducted. Lanes remained closed until almost 9 a.m.
