UPDATED: Suspicious Package Prompts Downtown LA Street Closures

An LAPD bomb squad investigatED a suspicious package found at the Criminal Courts Building in downtown Los Angeles.

A “suspicious package” found today at the Criminal Courts Building in downtown Los Angeles forced some street closures, but no evacuations, and was eventually found to be no threat, authorities said.

The sheriff’s department was notified of the discovery at 11:32 a.m. and implemented the closures on Spring at First Street, and Spring at Temple Street, according to LAPD Officer Tony Im.

A sheriff’s bomb squad was also dispatched to the scene, Im said.

Normal operations resumed at the building about 1:40 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
